AC Maintenance for the Spring Season
Spring is upon us and it’s time to get your home ready for the warm weather. As you start spring-cleaning, it’s important to remember a commonly forgotten task—AC maintenance. Clear any debris from around the condenser, change the air filter and schedule a professional tune-up to help ensure you’ll stay cool and comfortable all season long!
Clean Around Air Conditioner Condenser
During the winter, leaves and branches could have been trapped around the AC condenser. It’s important to clear any debris around the unit, as a build-up could restrict airflow and negatively affect efficiency. Remember, there should always be a 2-foot radius around the condenser, so trim shrubs and bushes when needed.
Change the Filter
Check and change the air filter regularly. A dirty filter can restrict airflow and cause a number of expensive problems—from decreased efficiency to a complete system breakdown. Additionally, a filter full of dirt and dust can result in poor indoor air quality, aggravating seasonal allergy symptoms.
Schedule Professional Maintenance
One of the most important AC maintenance tasks is to schedule a professional tune-up. During annual AC service, a technician can make small adjustments, clean important components and check refrigerant levels to help ensure efficiency and reliability all season long. If the air conditioner is still under manufacturer warranty, annual professional maintenance is usually a requirement to keep coverage valid.
